01Who we are
Austraverse is a living virtual world owned and operated by Gandoki ("we", "us"). Gandoki is the controller of the personal data described in this policy, for both this website (austraverse.com) and the game at austraverse.app.
02What we collect
- Account details: your email address, @handle, password (stored only as a secure hash) and the city you sign up from.
- Your Sim and gameplay: your Sim's appearance, home, jobs, companies, in-game balances, trades, Richlist position and other activity in the world.
- Things you post: Bullhorn posts, messages to other players and anything else you choose to share in the game.
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP, and logs of how the service is used, which we need to run it securely.
- Messages to us: what you send when you email support, partners or press.
We don't ask for payment card details to play, and we don't buy personal data about you from third parties.
03How we use it
- To create and run your account and keep your Sim and progress in the world.
- To run the in-game economy, show prices in your home currency and keep markets fair.
- To keep Austraverse safe: preventing cheating, fraud, abuse and fake accounts.
- To answer you when you contact us and send essential service messages.
- To understand how the world is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
04Legal bases
Where data protection law such as the UK GDPR or the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 applies, we rely on: contract (to provide the game you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving the service, balanced against your rights), legal obligation (where the law requires us to keep or disclose data) and consent (where we ask for it, which you can withdraw at any time).
05What other players see
Austraverse is a shared world. Your @handle, your Sim, your public activity such as Bullhorn posts, and your Richlist position are visible to other players. Your email address and password are never shown to anyone.
08International transfers
Austraverse is played across countries, and our providers may process data outside the country you live in. When we transfer personal data internationally, we use safeguards recognised by the applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses.
09How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep some of it longer for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Security logs are kept for a limited time.
10Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within the time the law allows. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK or the NDPC in Nigeria.
11Children
Austraverse is only for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we'll delete it. If you're a parent or guardian and think your child has signed up, contact us.
12Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and access controls to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us straight away if you think your account has been compromised.
13Changes
We'll update this policy as Austraverse grows. When we make important changes, we'll tell you in the game or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
